Volunteer Information

Do you love to work? Do you need service hours? Are you crazy about Anime Conventions and want a behind the scenes look? Then volunteer at Anime Blues Convention this year.

Each volunteer is required to attend 1 volunteer meeting unless they live over an hour away from the Memphis area. If you can not make either of the meetings, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. There will be two meetings this year at the Memphis Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library at 3030 Poplar Avenues Memphis, TN

The first will be on Sunday, April 3 from 1pm-2pm in Room C.

The second will be on Sunday, June 5 from 1pm-2pm in Room C.‚Äč

  • The only requirement to volunteer is that you need to be over the age of 16.
  • There are several volunteer jobs that need to be fulfilled, but the most important one is Badge Checking.
    •   Everyone will be given shifts for Badge Checking because it has the most spots to be filled.
    •  Other jobs include helping with line control, guests, running errands, helping in the volunteer assistant, helping in the staff room, and various other things that pop up during the convention.
  • If you work a total of 12 hours over the weekend, then you get a free pass into ABC 2017.
    • Usually this is split into two shifts ( a total of 4 hours) each day.
    • A volunteer schedule is pre-made and emailed before the convention starts.
      • There are opportunities to change your shift when the schedule is emailed beforehand, but the schedule is finalized the Wednesday before the convention starts, and you will no longer have an opportunity to change your shifts.
    • You are expected to attend all of the shifts you are scheduled, if you do not show up without notice, your shift will be given to someone else.
    • People, who skip shifts without informing the Volunteer Director or the Volunteer Assistant, will not be allowed to volunteer for Anime Blues again.
  • Volunteering at Anime Blues can be a fun and entertaining experience, but unfortunately you are expected to work, so if you really love helping out at events and working then volunteering will be a very rewarding experience.
  • By volunteering you are given an opportunity to help Anime Blues run efficiently and grow each year.
